Approximately 106,000 Americans die from prescription drugs each year, according to the Journal of the American Medical Association. All the more amazing that the young woman in this video, who at age 16 was diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (which snowballed into lupus and other autoimmune conditions), was able to get off of over 40 medications by using raw cannabis juice, according to her physician, Dr. Courtney.

Boost Your Metabolism With This Homemade Grapefruit Juice

We often try to eat less in order to lose weight. This mentality is not the best, mainly because it can lead to a metabolism that shuts down and makes us end up gaining weight instead of losing weight. When we eat such little calories our bodies, naturally, go into starvation mode and begin storing fat at any cost possible. This doesn’t mean, however, that you can eat all the junk food you please and expect to lose weight.

In fact, there are many plant-based foods out there can can help boost your metabolism while you still consume the recommended amount of calories your body is meant to have. You may even be able to eat much more than you do now and still lose weight. Choosing nutrient rich foods that boost your metabolism will allow your body to efficiently turn food into energy which will allow you to reach your desired weight without feeling hungry all the time.

Start with this metabolism-boosting grapefruit infusion cocktail!

Ingredients:
- 2 large organic grapefruit
- 5-6 large carrots
- 4-6 inches ginger root
- 1 lime
- Optional: hot pepper (cayenne, habanero, etc.) for added metabolism boosting effects

Take the above ingredients and juice them in a juicer (such as the Omega 8006 - or other juicer). Alternatively, you could blend these ingredients then strain them in a cheese cloth/nut milk bag. Enjoy!

Natural DIY Juices For Cellular Regeneration

"Chlorophyll will be the principle protein for the coming light bearing age. When freshly made in a drink, it contains synthesized sunshine, plus the electric current necessary for the revitalization of the body, and it will open areas of the brain that man yet known nothing about."-Dr. Ann Wigmore, 'Let There Be Light'
Image: Live Love Fruit
The fresh juice of plants is very much like the juice of our cells. Drinking the juice of fresh greens be it herbs or foods is like drinking the nectar of the rejuvenation of youth. The essential elements that may be lacking in your body cells- particularly the live enzymes, bioactive vitamins, minerals, trace minerals and other unknown factors that- can be easily assimilated through daily green sunlight transfusion of fresh green juices that are often destroyed by processing.

Use organic produce as much as possible, and drink immediately after extracting. Be sure to drink slowly and swish around in your mouth for around 30 seconds to activate the enzymes in your mouth and prevent bloating and digestive upset. Be creative with these recipes and use whatever greens and produce you have in your garden and what's in season. When juicing greens balance them with pleasant sweet tasting vegetables such as: carrot, beets, squash, celery or a few apples to give it that familiar taste you are familiar with.

Lemon Water:
Drink lemon water in the morning to help flush out toxins. Squeeze 1 lemon into 1 litre of water to do a full-body flush.

Orange Juice:
A little later in the morning prepare 4 large freshly pressed oranges and 1 cup young thai coconut water (don't drink pasturized orange juice! This is heated to high temperatures so the enzymes are destroyed). Oranges are great for pulling out toxins from our cells and the natural sugars help feed our glucose-hungry brain. Coconut is great for replenishing electrolytes we require throughout the day.

Green Juice:
The chlorophyll molecule closely resembles hemin (a component of hemoglobin), the pigment that combines with protein to form hemoglobin. The latter is present in the red corpuscles of the blood and by carrying oxygen to the tissues makes the production of energy and life possible. The major difference between chlorophyll and hemin is that chlorophyll contains magnesium while hemin contains iron as its central atom.

Fresh green juices used without any additional dietary changes have a great effect on a wide range of diseases. The human being dies from over 250 known diseases, whereas grass-eating animals in the wild, such as the horse, deer, steer or elephant are prone to only five or ten diseases. The only explanation that scientists have been able to come up with is that these animals are living on a diet that is fresh and grown naturally by the earth without the use of chemicals.

You may choose any of the green juices from this blog (or whatever you can come up with). Include some kind of sweeter root vegetable or apple for some sweetness, and at least 1 lemon and ginger or turmeric to add a full-body detox kick. Add a bunch of leafy greens (either kale, romaine, or some other leafy green), and neutral vegetables like celery, cucumber and fennel.

Beet Juice:
Beet juice helps to replenish our blood cells and prevent anemia. There are plenty of juice recipes on this blog that feature beets. Typically, a great beet juice recipe includes 3-4 beets, a handful of carrots, 3-4 inches ginger, 1 lemon and 5-6 stalks celery.

Take Care of Hearburn With This Natural DIY Juice

Natural Cures Not Medicine on Facebook: www.facebook.com/naturalcuresnotmedicine

Heartburn can be a very uncomfortable condition, and many individuals deal with it day to day. A major cause for heartburn is eating fatty greasy foods - eliminating these foods will help to reduce the occurrence of heartburn and acid reflux. Combining foods properly is also key to helping prevent heartburn.

If you are currently suffering from this condition I would suggest working at reducing the amount of fatty processed foods you consume and work towards eating a more whole foods diet. In the mean time, here is a juice that will help ease your symptoms of acid reflux and heartburn. Aloe vera juice is very alkaline which helps remove excess acid from the body. It is also helpful at detoxifying the body and works as an anti-inflammatory agent. These properties help repair damage to the esophagus that occur when someone experiences acid reflux or heartburn.

Cucumber is also very cooling, and alkaline, and buffers the acid in the stomach. Fennel, too, is a great food for acid reflux and actually seems to improve stomach function.

Ingredients:
- 4 oz. organic, raw aloe vera juice (can be bought at any health food store like whole foods)
- 1 cucumber
- 1 fennel bulb
- 1 knob of ginger (I use 4 inches or so)
- 1-2 lemons

Juice the above ingredients (except for the aloe), and add aloe to your freshly pressed juice. Mix & serve!

Juicing or Blending: Which is Better?

Natural Cures Not Medicine on Facebook: www.facebook.com/naturalcuresnotmedicine

I often get asked the question of whether it is better to blend or juice. In fact, both blending and juicing hold their own respective benefits, it simply depends on what stage of detoxing you wish your body to undergo. Both juices and smoothies play a very important role in any health and wellness program or lifestyle. Below I will compare these two methods as well as list out the specific benefits of each.

Why Are Blending & Juicing Different?

Juicing:
Juicing removes all indigestible fiber from fruit and vegetables and extracts the vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients in juice form

This means that your body can access and absorb the nutrients faster, especially if you have impaired digestion (which is often a result of making bad food choices, or if you have ever taken a round of antibiotics). In addition, juicing helps give your digestive system a break, so that your body can focus on rest and repair.

Juicing also allows you to consume large amounts of vegetables that you wouldn’t normally consume. Some people find that eating that many vegetables in one sitting is very difficult, but by turning it into a juice, you can get them down quickly and efficiently.

Individuals who juice often report finer mental clarity and focus, weight loss, increased energy, better complexion and increased immunity. Juices also help cleanse our liver (especially if you add things like dandelion greens and beets) and fight off depression (thanks to their high mineral content).

Blending:
Blending includes all fiber and nutrients from the fruit and vegetables

Blending produce into a smoothie helps preserve the fiber so these mixtures help regulate and keep our blood sugar levels balanced (and thus, keeps your energy levels balanced too). Smoothies also tend to be more filling than juices if you intend on going quite a while without a next meal.

Smoothies also ensure that toxins in the digestive tract get pushed out with healthy, regular bowel movements. They also help support the good bacteria in our gut needed for good digestion! Individuals who consume smoothies also report natural weight loss due to their ability to stave off cravings and hunger pains.

Lastly, smoothies are much cheaper to make than juices. Juicing often takes much more fruit and vegetables to create a hearty drink than it does to make a smoothie.

Tips:
(1) When you consume smoothies or juices, make sure you swish around the mixture in your mouth for 20-30 seconds to assimilate enzymatic activity in your mouth and to prevent bloating and gas!

(2) Make sure you combine fruits, starchy vegetables, and low-starch vegetables properly. Click HERE for a guide to combining.

(3) Try you best to consume the smoothie or juice right away! The nutrients oxidize quickly, and you want to minimize this as much as possible. If you want to store your juice for a couple hours, make sure you keep it somewhere dark and cold like the fridge, and add some high vitamin-C foods like lemons (for juice) or oranges (for smoothies) to slow oxidation rate!

Homemade V8 Juice Recipe

Natural Cures Not Medicine on Facebook: www.facebook.com/naturalcuresnotmedicine

Did you know that a single 11.5 ounce can of V8 juice contains 690mg of sodium?! This will leave you feeling dehydrated and foggy-headed. V8 juices are highly processed, reconstituted "vegetable blends" which have completely lost their natural enzymes and bioavailability of nutrients. Instead, make this homemade V8 juice. It will leave you feeling refreshed, high energy, and ready to take on the day!

Ingredients:
- 2 tomatoes
- 1 beet
- 1 bunch parsley
- 3-4 radishes
- 1 cucumber
- 4 stalks celery
- 1 cup spinach
- 1 red pepper
- 1-2 lemons (optional, for those who enjoy a bit of kick)

Juice the above ingredients and reap the amazing benefits of these 8 nutritive vegetables (aside from tomato which is technically a fruit!).

Death by sugar!

Some experts compare processed sugar to heavy drugs

Processed sugars are among the top unhealthy food components that are far too prevalent in the modern diet.  Diabetes, tooth decay, and even cancer are connected to the excessive consumption of processed and refined sugars.  Try to get your sweet fix by munching on some fresh berries, a banana, or an crisp juicy apple which all contain fiber that will balance out the natural sugars and provide a sustained natural energy boost.  Here are some of the negative effects of consuming processed sugar:

-Heightened diabetes risk

-Oral health problems

-Disrupted metabolism

-Faster aging

-Weakened immune system

-Heightened cancer risk

-Weight problems

-Kidney damage

-Skin problems

-Sleep disruption

Since sugar is separated from its nutritional components when it is refined, it is considered empty calories.  In fact, refined sugar actually requires the body to spend important nutrients in order to process the pure sugars which cause shock in the system.  Consuming fructose increases the uric acid presence in the body which can cause low level inflammation, leading to various other health problems.  Consuming processed sugars over a long period of time creates a suitable environment within the body for infections and bacteria to thrive.  Acidic blood, which is achieved through a poor diet usually consisting of too much processed and even natural sugars, greatly increases the risk for developing cancer as well.  There is a misconception that juicing fruits is a healthy practice, but the fiber from the fruits must be consumed along with the plant based sugars to help digest and moderate blood sugar absorption.  Instead, eat or blend the fruit and save green vegetables for the juicing.
