Hungary has taken a stand against Monsanto and GMO corn by destroying around 1000 acres of GMO corn - said Hungary deputy state secretary of the Ministry of Rural Development - Lajos Bognar.
In Hungary genetically modified (GM) seeds are banned. There is no certainty that the GM crops they burned didn't spread any seeds or pollen before destroyed so checks will continue despite the law that states traders are supposed to make sure their products are GMO free! I know right?! During the investigation, they found Pioneer Monsanto products among the seeds planted. Once discovered they burned and wrote the years harvest off. They are that serious.
Most of the local farmers have complained since they discovered they were using GMO seeds. With the season already under way, it was too late to sow new seeds, so this years harvest was lost. The company that sold the seeds in Baranya county is now being liquided... so, if any compensation is paid, the money will be paid mainly to that company’s creditors, rather than the farmers.
Just another country you can add to the list of conscious and awake. Is yours next?
Don't worry, they won't go hungary...
ReplyDeleteHahahaha!!!
Deletegreat job... every couny shall do so..
ReplyDeleteyeah, but they just killed democracy in favor of fascism!
ReplyDeleteReally? You think it's facsist to protect our health and future generations?
DeleteYeah, and they put more CO2 into the air, thereby contributing to more global warming. Good idea Hungary.
DeleteYeah, and they put more CO2 into the air, thereby contributing to more global warming. Good idea Hungary.
DeleteNo, they destroyed product sold under false pretenses that threatened to spread to other points of the country.
DeleteAnd the term you were looking for was not "DEMOCRACY", it was "UNRESTRAINED CAPITALISM" something no country has. And it's not "FASCISM" it's "RULE OF LAW"

^an example of political correctness over doing what's right. there's nothing fascist about government and people coming to an agreement to keep frankenfood from infecting real food, even at the cost of one year's crop. Mistakes were made. sacrifices followed.
Deletewhat do you think you know about democracy? are you payed by Monsanto or what?
Deletewhat do you think you know about democracy? are you payed by monsanto or something?
DeleteGuys you should read more about what's going on in Hungary besides the ban on GMO's - what my anonymous colleague meant wasn't that burning those crops was a fascist action, but that the hungarian government has indeed been dilligently killing democracy, passing laws against free press and freedom of association & such. The comment was NOT defending Monsanto. The ban on GMO's in Hungary is of little significance next to a country's people losing their fundamental rights (IMHO). http://www.independent.co.uk/voices/editorials/leading-article-hungary-retreats-from-democracy-6286248.html http://www.newstatesman.com/austerity-and-its-discontents/2013/04/hungary-no-longer-democracy
DeleteWell, even though it might be seen as a heroic act to burn GMO corn fields the hungarian government is still run by a fascist regime. Besides this burning of corn the government has made severe limitations to the freedom of speech, they promote hate against Romas and Jews, and they harass all political opposition. So in that sense they are a fascist government, even though they might get one or two things right.
DeleteGlobal Warming is JUST another BULSHIt or HOAX
DeleteGLOBAL WARMING is just another BULLSHIT and HOAX. Search for interview with Fred Goldberg.
DeleteThis individual has misinterpreted the free market as democracy. This is a common mistake in conservative countries. Reigning in the power of corporations is not an act of fascism, if anything it is the exact opposite.
DeleteYes, fascist love to create scapegoats and burn things.
Delete"Unanimously adopted by the hungarian parliament amendments to the anti-GMO Act"
DeleteThis is the only thing in Hungary, which agree with the political parties.
What's more fascist than infiltrating the world's food, water and air supplies with patented poisons in a way calculated to eliminate all competition and create a dependency for our survival on corporations that control the government and economy with their profits?
DeleteHow uneducated some people are! Burning biomass is CO2 neutral! Its not Carbon capture, but that was no carbon worth to be captured anyways! I would be very critical about any news you will hear now about democracy in a country that resists the globalist agenda! Its likely very biased, as we have previously seen with Venezuela and Iran! Its old tech! When the supposed God of the Hebrews send them to kill women and children in their promised land they also first claimed that these were massive wrongdoers and needed to be judged! Judge not and appreciate the resistance!
DeleteGood for Hungary doing the right thing, we must learn from them.

ReplyDeleteA country with balls....
ReplyDeleteA country with gumption...
ReplyDeleteThey should have loosed the GMO executives in the field before they lit it up
ReplyDeleteto control co2 plant more trees
ReplyDeleteeasy way to fix CO2 Plant trees!
ReplyDeleteNo, Not Trees. They Take Long Time To Grow! The Quickest Way Is To Legalize Cannabis & Plant Lots Of It! Cannabis Thrives Offa CO2. Its The Quickest Renewable Resource That We HAve On This Planet. But Most Dont Know That.
DeletePlant Hemp - 1 hectare sequesters 40 tonnes of carbon every year and has 100's of uses. BMW now makes interior paneling from hemp fiber and resin.
DeleteNot that we should not also plant whole forests of non-monoculture trees as well. Just that they take 20 years for softwoods and 40 years hardwoods do the same job of hemp does in a couple year.
Global Warming is not about CO2! Dont eat thal Al Gore Sheet! This criminals just want u to pay for the right of breathing! Say no to GMO, say no to Al Gore and his gang of crooks, to Cap and Trade and CO2 Taxes! What makes weather colder or warmer is mainly water vapor... and guess what....? ... The SUN! What a crazy theory! ;)

DeleteCannabis is great. However, it produces closer to 20 tons per hectare and that's only if it's cut back and allowed to grow a second season. It can then be used to make these new blocks for construction!

That poster defending monsanto (and they are) is a government shill. Paid to troll sites and debunk and market monsanto by various ploys such as instilling cognitive dissonance in the people. Fight anyone or anything that puts profits over our health.
ReplyDeleteBingo! I think you're right on the money.
DeleteBingo! You're right on the money. We should dismantle Mansanto, seize their assets (including all offshore accounts) and use the money to pay our farmers for all the damage they've done to their crops. Fair is fair.

ReplyDeleteUnknown : you're not just dumb but you're a coward too. Why are you afraid to show your first name?
ReplyDeleteFYI, Hungary release far less CO2 then what they were allowed to in the EU. EU stand for European Union. In fact they sold the quota in excess to other EU members. ID ten T.
Monsanto is a disease in the form of a company
ReplyDeleteMonsanto is a disease in the form of a corporation
ReplyDeleteHats off to Hungary
ReplyDeleteNo to get rid of CO2 the Trees cant grow that fast! Legalize Cannabis & Plant Tons Of It! Cannabis Thrives Offa CO2! Plus You Can HAve Many Crops A Year!
ReplyDeletecan you please give me some sources on where this info is from? i have not yet found anything in the local media or official pages to underpin this.
ReplyDeleteon the other hand, anonymous is right! yes, there are loads of things hungary's current ruling group is doing against democracy, against fairness, against the poor, etc.
i would be terribly happy if this news proved right, but before you start idolizing a country you need to see more than just one side of the coin.
Sad, but you are probably right.
ReplyDeleteSad, but you are probably right.
ReplyDeleteWhy not plant non-GMO corn? or wheat, or something else edible that has a shorter growing season? Just an idea :-)
ReplyDeletesure, why not? :) but the trick is to remember about the rules of sustainable farming (strategy of crop management). it helps to gain bigger yield without damaging the natural environment and obviously out health :)
DeleteLol... CO2 released in atmosphere... ppl need to differentiate between the cyclical CO2 that is taken and then released back by plants making zero net impact on atmospheric levels; and fossil CO2 which was sequestered millions of years ago that ONLY BURNING FOSSIL FUELS releases and which makes a net impact on atmospheric CO2 levels. Don't attack burning of a few trees until after you have shut down ALL fossil fuel burning across the globe.
ReplyDeletePlease sign our petition to Ban GMOs from Canada, thank you for helping us make this happen and please pass it forward. Blessings!

Because we are all together a bunch of lazy comfortable sleezeys that won't take charge to make the changes we believe in. It all started with Coleco and Intelivision. This government wants us to be stuck in front of the tv watching soap operas playing videos game and not taking action to change for our children. Its very saddening.

ReplyDeleteBecause all together we are a bunch of comfortable lazy asses. We won't take action to change our country for the sake of our children's futures. Our country started to decline at the time we allowed the pledge of allegiance to be removed from schools. Next thing we are going to allow islamic integration into our system and have already started. But mean while we will sit back watch soap operas play video games and ignore whats coming!
ReplyDeleteHere in the US we spend 6% of household income on food, we have more food and it is cheaper than any place in the world. In Hungary they spend 17% of household income on food. . . It's reported that Hungary has an emigration problem, people are leaving faster than they are being born leaving them with a declining population. . .never heard of opposition to GMO's from starving people
ReplyDeleteIn the US, with an expanding population, consumers spend 6% of household income on food, In Hungary, with a declining population consumers spend 17% of household income on food. Thank you American Farmers for the cheapest, freshest food ever in the history of civilization. On this Memorial day I am thankful that I live in a country where I am free to criticize anything, anytime without fear of retribution.
ReplyDeleteWe may spend less on food, but MORE on healthcare! Many, many healthcare problems come from not eating "right". In our recent history, before the days of junk food being cheapest and easily available, we spent more on food and less on healthcare.
ReplyDeleteThink about that for a minute.

A Kansas farmer is suing Monsanto because they tested GMO wheat seed in Oregon years ago and it was all suppose to have been destroyed after the testing but it has now shown up growing wild at the side of the road years later! Given most countries do not allow the import of GM wheat every wheat farmer in the USA could suffer from Monsantos failing to destroy their test product. They never should have allowed testing. How can anyone trust Monsanto to test a product when their seed is being illegally sneaked in with other non-GM seed in Countries that clearly ban its use? Monsanto is illegally forcing their product onto the USA and other countries and they should be shut down and everything burned to the ground, CO2's be dammed! GMO seeds and crops must be destroyed now! GMO wheat was recently found growing wild at the side of the road in Oregon and the only reason they tested this wild wheat was because Roundup would not kill it and they wanted to know why! Japan has canceled all wheat orders from Oregon. Oregon's economy could be devastated by this. What happens when this GMO seed spreads State to State and cross pollinates other plants, let alone the pollen travels with the winds and can blow across the sea. There will be no way to stop it and the USA needs to join every other country in suing Monsanto and putting them out of business before they contaminate the world!

Hungary also burns down the camps of Roma. Their police union openly declared that they have to prepare for "war against the Jews". Bit difficult to take them seriously on any issue, maybe?
ReplyDeleteYou know what else Hungary burns down? The camps of gypsies. Their main police union declared that they are preparing for "war against the Jews". A bit hard to take them seriously, perhaps?
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing wrong with islamic culture you biggot. And I'm glad we revoked the pledge. You really think a burning bush talks? Get out of here dude.
