How To Detox Your Liver Naturally

Your liver is like the maid of your body, cleaning up all the toxins you put into it. The liver keeps all internal systems running smoothly. The modern diet, environmental pollutants, and our increasing dependence on toxic personal care products have put our livers on serious overtime.

So, what can you do about it? Well, you could try a quality liver detox supplement, or you could use some items found at your local health food store, your grocery store, or even some that are already in your kitchen. Here is how to clean your liver with 5 common food items.

How To Naturally Detox Your Liver

1. Warm Lemon Water – Warm lemon water is a great way to detox your liver every single morning. This isn’t lemonade, so don’t add sugar or anything else. Just purified water and a healthy dose of fresh lemon juice. Some experts, like author A.F. Beddoe who wrote the book Biological Ionization as Applied to Human Nutrition, also believe that the liver produces more enzymes in response to water with lemon than to any other food.

2. Garlic - Add some garlic to your cooking or thinly slice a clove into your next salad. Garlic contains sulfur compounds that can help activate enzymes in the liver. It contains allicin and selenium, which are both good for liver protection.

3. Avocados - As if you need another reason to add avocados to your diet, a Japanese study found that avocados contain compounds that can protect the liver from damage. When compared with 21 other fruits, avocados had the most promise in protecting the liver from galactosamine, a “powerful” toxin that has been shown to produce a liver damage much like human viral hepatitis.

4. Cilantro - This versatile herb can be added to just about any dish, including salads or smoothies. This herb can help remove heavy metals from the body, something your liver could be struggling with right now.

5. Turmeric - Another powerful spice with a long list of benefits, turmeric is said to not only protect the liver from damage, but also encourage regeneration of liver cells. In addition, it increases natural bile production and aids in keeping the body toxin-free.

How to wash the pesticide from produce

Organically farmed produce is better than conventionally farmed produce. This statement has been backed variously by scientific studies and empirical evidence to that effect. However, organically farmed crops are not everybody’s cup of tea for all sorts of reasons, including that the wallet factor is high. The least we can do then, to help ourselves is thoroughly wash our fruit and vegetables, thereby making them cleaner and safer to consume. Some old fashioned cleaning materials either combined or used by themselves are known to reduce the impact of eating sprayed produce.

Practical and cheap

Hydrogen peroxide and white vinegar put separately into dark spray bottles and sprayed at the same time but separately on the fruit and vegetables, and subsequently rinsed in water is meant to render them clean.

Another simple and effective way to clean produce is by soaking it in water and adding sea salt or rock salt with lemon juice and letting it sit for ten minutes before rinsing out and using.

A slightly more ingredient and labour intensive cleaning mix is created by using vinegar, baking soda, grapefruit seed extract and one cup of water. Mix the lot and put the solution into a spray bottle. Spray the fruit and vegetables and leave for an hour before rinsing and using. Vinegar is a great bacteria killer and can be used just by itself to clean the produce, especially if you consider how much it would have been handled before you eat it.

Everything is energy

Finally, if we go by the theory that everything in the manifest world is ultimately energy, then why not change the energetic basis of the food we eat? Offering gratitude before eating and asking the food to enhance your health is one way – this is called using intention to change the nature of things. This is possible say the spiritual teachers and enlightened masters. For as the old saying goes: if you change the way you observe a thing, the thing that is being observed will change.

7 Remedies To Keep Skin Clear

Natural Cures Not Medicine on Facebook: www.facebook.com/naturalcuresnotmedicine

Growing up, particularly in our teens, we are constantly told that eating fruits and vegetables will keep our skin clear. But there is more to it than just eating them and some of them can be used as a great natural alternative to medicine.

Modern lifestyles often have a tremendous impact on our skin.

We eat food and drink beverages that clog up our arteries, cause slow digestion and damage our cells. It is a well known fact that whatever damage we do to our bodies on the inside, will show on the outside.  Too often we run to the local pharmacy or doctor to treat problems such as acne, blemishes, pigmentation and infections. The treatments are often chemical concoctions that treat the symptoms and not the cause.
Listed below are some natural treatments that provide a refreshing alternative.

  1. Cucumbers contain vitamin k which is great for reducing puffiness to eyes and vitamin c which can aid in promoting collagen growth.
  2. Turmeric is high in antioxidants which can be great for lightening dark blemishes such as acne scars and age/sun spots.
  3. Papaya is another rich antioxidant. it can also be used to remove dead skin cells when applied to the skin topically.
  4. Lemon is great for removing dead skin cells and also acts as a moisturizer. It has antioxidant properties and can be eaten, added to salad dressings or applied direct to the skin.
  5. Coconut water has anti-fungal properties, high in vitamin c and also in vitamin b which can aid in the repair of skin tissue. It can be taken as a drink or simply washing your face or body in it will help to improve your skin.
  6. Mint, in particular peppermint is a great way to treat skin infections and is soothing relief for insect bites and stings.. It can also be used to help eradicate scabies mites but there is very little research to show the effectiveness of this.
  7. Neem goes way beyond cleaning blocked pores and eliminating pimples. It has anti-viral, anti-microbial, anti-fungal, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. It is also an analgesic, which means it can be used as a pain killer when used topically (applied to the skin). This is a little powerhouse and the essential oil and leaves are perfect for healing skin problems.
Always remember when trying any of these, do a skin test first. As with anything, sometimes sensitivity can occur.

5 Natural Insect Repellents

Natural Cures Not Medicine on Facebook: www.facebook.com/naturalcuresnotmedicine

It’s summer again and without little thought many people will be spraying bug sprays on their skin like no tomorrow. Little do people know that when they put these sprays and lotions on their skin, they are actually putting pesticides on their body (insect sprays are pesticides known as insecticides). DEET is the active ingredient in most conventional bug sprays and lotions. Few people know that DEET is a registered pesticide and a member of the toluene chemical family. What is toluene? Toluene is an organic solvent that is one of the main ingredients in paint removers, as well as rubber and plastic cements. DEET actually has the ability to melt plastic and synthetic fibers.

Your skin is the largest organ of your body, and anything put on your skin gets directly absorbed into your bloodstream. This means that when you spray DEET containing repellents on your skin, it gets absorbed through the skin and passes into the blood. Research has shown that up to 17% of the chemical DEET is absorbed into the bloodstream once applied to the skin. Not only does it cause skin irritation, but it has major effects on the central nervous system by causing motor deficits and learning and memory dysfunction.

Putting chemicals on our skin in any form, is not good for our health. Below are five recipes that can be used to make your own natural bug sprays. For the spray, try to find some BPA free bottles you can use to make the mixes. These recipes are fast, easy, and can be mixed up in seconds (depending on which option you choose).

Thyroid Juice Remedy

Your thyroid is a set of multiple glands that work to keep your body running smoothly. They deliver messages (hormones) between themselves and other body parts so that all of those tiny cells are regulated and functioning at the proper levels. The hormones produced by the thyroid (T3 and T4) are essential for life and have many effects on metabolism, growth and development.

Thyroid health is important, because if your thyroid isn't functioning properly it can lead to developmental defects or weight gain. Food is our medicine, so consuming the proper foods will help support your thyroid to ensure it remains in tip top shape. Carrots contain ample amounts of beta-carotene which is the precursor for vitamin A in the body. If you are low on vitamin A, your ability to produce thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) is limited. This vitamin is required by the body to convert T4 to T3.

B-complex vitamins are required for good thyroid function. Cucumbers contain B vitamins, so they are a good choice when trying to nourish the thyroid glands. Without B vitamins the thyroid and adrenal glands fail to secrete their hormones, and won't be able to utilize its iodine raw material efficiently to make hormones. B vitamins are especially useful in individuals with an overactive thyroid.

Ingredients:
- 1 cucumber
- 5 stalks celery
- 5 carrots
- 1 cup young thai coconut water
- 1 lemon

7 Foods That Prevent Grout

Natural Cures Not Medicine on Facebook: www.facebook.com/naturalcuresnotmedicine

Gout is a disease that is caused by uric acid build-up in the body. Uric acid is formed when the digestive system breaks down purines in our food. A diet low in purines helps by allowing excess uric acid to be flushed out in the urine.

Some foods that prevent gout:

PINEAPPLE
Pineapple contains an enzyme called bromelain that is an anti-inflammatory. Research has found that supplementing with bromelain may relieve the pain associated with gout.

Ginger
Ginger is a powerful anti-inflammatory that has been found reapeatedly in clinical studies to reduce chronic inflammation. One study in mice found that a compound in ginger may help to reduce the inflammation associated with uric acid buildup.

Turmeric
Turmeric has long been recognized as an anti-inflammatory by many cultures and has been proven in several studies. Some experts recommend a daily dose of turmeric to reduce the inflammation associated with gout.

Cherry Juice
Cherry juice has been used to alleiviate gout symptoms for decades. Small studies in Italy and the United States have reported sucess with cherry juice as a gout treatment, though scientists are not certain what mechanism is active in producing this result. Cherry juice does not appear to lower uric acid levels directly but research suggests that its antiinflammatory properties may play a role in reducing gout attack occurrence from 3-4 times per year to about once a year.

Hot Peppers
Hot peppers are rich in vitamin C which has been shown to reduce uric acid levels.

Watercress
Watercress contains moderate levels of vitamins and minerals and is reputed to be very beneficial to the kidneys. It may help to rid the body of excess uric acid.

Lemons
Studies have found that the higher a person's vitamin C intake, the lower the incidence of gout. Try adding lemon to your water every day to alleviate gout symptoms.
