Here is a challenge: find a way to maintain your meat-free diet and still get enough protein.  Luckily nature is up to the challenge and there are a few delicious choices, so dig in!
Some of these foods are not only protein rich but also have some special health benefits:

Avocado contains a good amount of natural protein and also is packed with monounsaturated fats which help manage cholesterol and prevent heart disease.  

Spirulina has a whopping 19 amino acids and is loaded with chlorophyll which helps with the production of blood cells.  

Broccoli contains plant protein but also has powerful antioxidant properties and is even thought to be an effective anti cancer.  

Kale packs a protein punch and brings a good amount of vitamins and antioxidant power to the table.

Figs, while also a rich source of plant based protein, can also help with ulcers, diabetes and lower the risk of heart disease.

  1. Vegetarians (or vegans) are in no danger of being deficient in protein! When did you last hear of someone being admitted to hospital with a protein deficiency? With meat, fish, eggs and dairy making up the majority of the western diet, it's the "normal" eaters that are deficient in vitamins and phytonutrients. The veggies are not dying of heart disease, diabetes, getting osteoporosis, morbid obesity... ad infinitum. Who wrote this bs? What's the next article gonna be? "High calcium foods for vegetarians!"? We are not the one's with the health problems. Wake up!

    1. I understand your point but this article isn't unless there are many athletes that eat on a strict fruit and vegetable diet and when they want to gain muscle mass this is an alternative than meats.

  2. Just want to second Jamie's comment and add that the problem for most people is getting too much protein.

    As Neal Barnard says, if you are eating enough calories, it is almost impossible not get enough protein (on a vegan diet).

    ALL plant foods (all living matter) have protein.

    And, eating less protein is generally healthier since ALL plant proteins are bio-available to human herbivores unlike animal proteins which cannot be thoroughly digested/assimilated by humans... leading to many problems.

    1. You said that eating less protein is healthier because all vegetables have protein? You sound like another ill-informed, self-hating vegetarian. Humans have been eating insect, eggs, meat, organ meat, and bone marrow for millions of years longer than they have been eating grains and legumes, and we have continued to eat these foods today, while we have not continued to eat some some of the bulk and starchy plants our ancestors once ate and had the larger teeth and intestinal track for. Humans survive the best on a natural diet without pesticides and hormones and with happy animals to eat. Eating meat once a week is ideal. Go from being a vegan to also eating a healthy amount of animal protein, and if you dare, insects and organ meats, and see how you feel.

  3. People say there is a RACE problem. People say this RACE problem will be solved when the third world pours into EVERY and ONLY into White countries.
    People say the only solution to the RACE problem is if ALL and ONLY White countries "assimilate," i.e., intermarry, with all those non-Whites.
