Aside from fighting smog and producing oxygen, the foliage is expected to provide insulation to the residential units.
This new idea can have far reaching implications for city dwelling as we know it. As we noted in our previous article on urban homesteading, the densely populated urban areas of the world are in dire need of increased food democracy. Currently there is a crisis stemming from the fact that our food supply is overly centralized and ripe for abuse, making the case for distributed food systems all the more important. Food forests similar to the one pictured above can(and should be) set to grow not only oxygen producing plants, but organic fruit, vegetables, and fish as well if they are set up using aquaponics or vertical growing techniques.

Found your post this morning and somehow, it made me smile and have a thought that maybe the future, after all, could look green, not grim?.. :)

Unfortunately the amount of birds that will be killed by the "slicing machines" on the roof will be terrible and hard not to notice . This is a real problem with wind farms that the wind proponents don't want to talk about.
ReplyDeleteThe amount of bird deaths because of wind farms is unconscionable and something they do not want the public to know about. The deaths of the many birds caused by those "slicing machines" on the roofs will not be pretty .
